Ben Affleck Speaks Out About Jen Garner’s Tell-All Interview
If you’ve been following the Ben and Jen story, you’ll know that it was allegedly a Jude Law-style case of ‘nanny fever’ that got between the pair, who were married for 10 years and have three beautiful children together.
The announcement of their split shocked everyone by coming just one day after their 10th wedding anniversary.
However, speaking out to Vanity Fair last month, the notoriously private Jennifer Garner spilled that the pair had gone their separate ways before the nanny ever came into the picture.
“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce,” she told Vanity Fair.
She added about Affleck: “I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it. But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold.’ He can cast quite a shadow.”
Now, according to a report on news.com.au, the equally private Ben has spoken out, opening up about his ex’s interview to The New York Times.
He said he understood why Jen got so candid about the split. “She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with so she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it — I don’t want to do it again’,” he said.
“It’s fine. She’s allowed to talk about it.” The 43-year-old added: “Jen’s great. She’s a great person. We’re on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that’s the reality that I live in.”
Ben was accused in the tabloids of having an affair with the family nanny, 28-year-old Christine Ouzounian, but has always denied it.
Since separating, Jen has revealed she has been suffering from insomnia and now shares a room with her daughter Violet.
Despite it all, Jen still speaks lovingly of her husband. “It was a real marriage,” she said.
“It wasn’t for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work.”
