Ruby Rose Lashes Out At Lisa Origliasso Following SSM Result
Ruby Rose is best known for her role in Orange Is The New Black and her long-term relationship with Veronicas singer Jessica Origliasso.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Ruby appeared to lash out at her girlfriend’s twin sister Lisa Origliasso, following the results of Australia’s same-sex marriage vote. Among celebrations of the vote being a “Yes”, the 31-year-old claimed that Lisa had commented that Ruby and Jess should “feel lucky” that they don’t get stoned to death like they do in other countries.
The tweet was quickly deleted but, seeing that this is the internet and everything lasts forever, here’s a screenshot of the original tweet:
Her tweet was not taken lightly and a number of the actresses 1.33 million Twitter followers quickly blasted her. Many of them called her out for being so negative during such a positive time and for trying to play the victim.
YOU dragged Lisa down and you're trying to play victim and "rise above". Rising above would've been not posting the stupid tweet in the first place!— caseyu (@CaseyU84) November 15, 2017
@RubyRose It is so pitiful from you to criticize Lisa but I suppose that we cannot wait better from you. Think about what you write before publishing it, that would be better. Be an adult and a responsible person because you advocate love but you show the opposite. Thank you 😤😡— TheVeronicasDaily (@VeronicasDaily) November 15, 2017
Rose took to her personal twitter again to try and smooth out the situation. She posted a series of tweets explaining her actions. In her string of tweets, she also thanked the public for voting "Yes".
It’s an emotional day. I’m a human being and need to remind myself not to let the people below try to drag me down.— Ruby Rose (@RubyRose) November 15, 2017
I do understand I need to be grateful for the baby steps. But it’s such a mixed feeling to comprehend paying 120 million to ask and see 6/10 people ‘voted’ in support of our community being able to have one part of equality - marriage. In a hypothetical non binding discussion.— Ruby Rose (@RubyRose) November 15, 2017
But my god thank you to everyone who voted yes. You have most definitely saved lives by this gesture and i know how hard they made it to vote.— Ruby Rose (@RubyRose) November 15, 2017
Tension between Ruby and Lisa has always been present with Ruby unfollowing the singer on Twitter in April this year.
