Jess Mauboy's 'Secret Daughter' Co-Star On What She's Like
Bonnie Seven has been a household name for years after she starred as Ricky Sharpe on Home & Away but now she has moved on and is starring alongside Jess Mauboy on The Secret Daughter.
The 28-year-old actress has revealed that she couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the show that has cast an indigenous woman, Jessica Mauboy, as the lead.
‘It’s been a long time coming and too long a wait, but it was an exciting prospect for me to a part of something on commercial television with a female Aboriginal lead,’ Bonnie explains.
She went on to say that being part of the Seven drama is ‘’really important to me that all communities, particularly Indigenous, are represented onscreen and show that you can grow up and be whatever you want.’
Bonnie went on to say that she thought of Jess as a ‘sister’ throughout filming.
‘Jess is just this incredible person,’ Bonnie explains.
Jess Mauboy herself has spoken out about how happy she is with he show as it’s breaking the mould for onscreen diversity, she said ‘’I am now a part of a show that I would have wanted to see growing up. I feel really proud to have stood up and taken this role.’’
