Joan Rivers In Critical Condition
Reports are coming through that Joan Rivers is in a critical condition in hospital after she stopped breathing during vocal chord surgery in a New York clinic overnight.
TMZ is reporting at one point, her heart stopped during the surgery.
The comic was apparently transferred to a Manhattan hospital where she remains critical - her daughter s flying from LA to be with her mother now.
The 81-year-old has had a crazy week with double fashion police duty for the VMAs and Emmy Awards back-to-back, and she's also been on the promotional trail for her new book "Diary Of A Mad Diva".
She has been placed into a medically induced coma.
Doctors are expecting to bring Rivers out of the coma this weekend to assess any damage caused when she went into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine doctor’s visit.
A source told The NY Daily News, "They don’t know how long she was starved of oxygen."
More to come.
