Leonardo DiCaprio Describes Filming That Bear Rape Scene
Since The Revenant film, which features Leonardo DiCaprio having sex with a bear, views have been prompted to ponder the possibilities of inter-species sexuality.
After months of speculation, Leonardo DiCaprio has addressed the rumours surrounding the controversial scene where his character seems to be 'raped' by a bear.
Talking to ABC's 7:30, he describes the scene as 'groundbreaking' saying that it made viewers feel they are 'watching something [they] shouldn't be'.
Talking to Leigh Sales, DiCaprio said 'You can feel the intimacy of both man and beast, you feel the sweat and the heat coming off the animal. It almost awakens another sense in you as an audience member and you feel like some voyeuristic animal watching something that you shouldn't be watching'.
The scene reportedly took 'months' of rehearsal.
Commenting on the speculation the scene caused, DiCaprio said 'People have responded to it because it's unlike anything they've ever seen in cinema ever.'
Fox, the studio behind the project were quick to dismiss the claims, saying 'As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs. There is clearly no rape scene with a bear'.
