Star Wars Actor Jason Wingreen Has Died At Age 95

Actor Jason Wingreen has died at age 95.

Famous for his roles in All In The Family and Star Wars, his son Ned confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that his father passed away on Christmas Day at his home in L.A.

The Brooklyn-born actor voiced space bounty hunter Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

He also played loved bartender Harry on All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place for 117 episodes.

He had originally auditioned for Yoda in Empire Strikes Back, a role that went to Frank Oz.

He was then given four lines of dialogue for Boba Fett.

"I think the actual work, aside from the hellos and goodbyes and all that, could have been no more than 10 minutes," Wingreen said.

It didn’t become publicly known that the voice was Wingreen until about 2000 and the actor lamented that he received no credit or residuals for the performance.

He served in World War II before beginning his acting career, and retired from acting in the mid-1990s.

He is survived by his son Ned, two grandchildren and his sister Harriet Wingreen.
