BIZARRE Theory Claims Kev’s Dad Is To Blame For ‘Home Alone'

It’s that time of the year again where we go on a marathon of all the good Christmas movies that have come out over the years. One of the classics that has stood the test of time is definitely Home Alone. The 1990s Christmas comedy launched the acting career of child star Macauley Culkin and has remained one of his most memorable films ever since.

Now, fans of the popular film are being forced to view it in a whole new light after a Reddit user came up with an insane theory that maybe Kevin McCallister was destined to stay home.

That alone already sounds bizarre but wait till you hear more of the theory!

If you aren’t familiar with the iconic holiday film, the plot centres on eight-year-old Kevin, played by Cuilkin, who is accidentally left behind by his family as they fly off to Paris for their Christmas holiday.

The film itself blames Kevin being left home alone on a temporary power outage which caused the family to oversleep and then leave in a rush to get to the airport in time, leaving poor Kevin at home and forgotten.

However, Reddit user ‘bobcobbie’ has spotted that Kevin’s father is actually to blame and he may have intentionally sabotaged his chances of getting to Paris with the rest of the family. Now that’s just bad parenting!

In a .gif posted to the Reddit Movie Details thread, it shows Peter throwing Kevin’s plane ticket into the trash after scooping up a bunch of drenched napkins he used to clean the milk Kevin had spilled during an argument over pizza.

The moment is short and fast and can be easily missed as the plane ticket is the same red as the napkins. However, if you pay close attention to the .gif you can clearly see Kevin’s ticket in the trash. It even has his name boldly written in black marker on the top!

Reddit users and Home Alone fans were quick to respond and assume that maybe Kevin’s dad had planned this and had more sinister plans in mind.

“Let’s dispel with his fiction that Mr McCallister doesn’t know what he’s doing,” said one Reddit user. While another user wrote, “He hired those two robbers to rob his house without telling them Kevin would be there, with the plan being they would panic and kill Kevin”.

Others thought that perhaps Peter was simply careless: “You’d think a guy who can afford to fly out his entire extended family to Paris on Christmas would be a little more organised with the ticket situation.”

The theories are endless but this .gif has definitely sparked conversation. Now it’s up to you to decide whether Peter was being devious or just mindless.
