Man Arrested For Wielding Replica Gun Outside Lindt Cafe
A 54-year-old Sydney man was arrested yesterday after wielding a replica gun outside the Lindt Cafe at Martin Place.
Around 2pm yesterday police on patrol were notified that a man appeared to be brandishing a weapon on George Street.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald witnesses saw police searching the suspect, asking "Where is the gun?"
Police reportedly found a replica firearm after searching the man's bag, just 400m away from the Lindt Cafe.
The man was arrested and charged with eight counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, according to SMH. The offences allegedly took place between February 27 and March 29 of this year.
The Lindt Cafe in Martin Place reopened just two weeks ago, following the deadly siege by gunman Man Haron Monis, which claimed the lives of Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson
