Red Hair And Freckles Are ''imperfections' In New Ad
Only a few years ago it was the world of online dating that was seen as being the last resort for people who are unlucky in love.
Now, though, it's different with up to one in five relationships now starting online, it's safe to say its come a long way.
With every popular industry though, comes a stack of entrants into markets and with that comes adverts. The current advertising campaign for one dating sight may have taken it too far.
Match.com is one the UK's most used online dating sights and their latest campaign has offended quite a few people.
The advertisement starting popping up all over the London Underground and says ''If you don't like your imperfections, someone else will.''
It's not a bad message to portray, except their definition of ''imperfections'' is a redheaded girl with freckles.
It has lead to quite the social media backlash, with quite a few people giving the company the finger.
Others chose to adjust the advert, so that it told the real story;
Following on from the social media backlash, Match.com have chosen to remove the advert from every location it had been put up.
A spokesperson for Match.com said in a statement: “We have taken note of the response about our advert concerning freckles.
“Following this feedback, we are in discussions with our relevant partners about removing these posters as soon as possible.”
Another social media success story!
