Footage of a baby dangling precariously from a third story window before being saved by passersby has emerged from China.

The video, captured by a witness, shows the heart-stopping moment as rescuers climb up an awning to save the bub.

According to Metro, the child's head was stuck in the railings while his body dangled precariously outside the building.

Rescuers were eventually able to push him back inside as a group below held open a quilt just in case.
