The Two Baby Names Parents Are Rejecting This Year
Thanks to the American election, the names Hillary and Donald have dropped A LOT in popularity for parents naming their newborns.
The Social Security Administration's list of most popular baby names in 2015 shows that Hillary and Donald are at or near their least popular levels on record.
Donald was ranked as the no. 441 most popular name for boys born last year, with just 690 American babies getting the name in 2015.
#441 is it's lowest ranking since at least 1900, according to The Washington Post.
Previously, the name has been in the top 100 for nine decades and for most of the last century, the name was among America's most common.
Hillary on the other hand, didn't even make it into the top 1,000 most popular names. Only 136 girls were given the name in 2015. Hilary is even less trendy, with only 53 American babies given that name last year.
The name Hillary was most popular in 1992 when it hit #132. That was the same year that Bill Clinton won his first term... however by 1994, Hillary fell to #566 and by 2007, it was number 961. However the following year when Mrs Clinton ran for POTUS for the first time, parents liked it again and it rose to #722.
Laura Wattenburg, author of The Baby Name Wizard said "It's generally regarded that the drop in the name Hillary is one of the sharpest drops in popularity ever for a name".
