Vietnamese Model Could Face Fine Over ‘Offensive’ Dress

A Vietnamese model could be up for a serious penalty back home… for a gown she wore in France.

Ngoc Trinh, 29, is facing backlash in Vietnam for wearing a black ‘naked dress’ with hip-high slits to the 2019 Cannes Film Festival last month.

Despite her wearing it in another country, she may have to pay a heavy fine for possibly violating Vietnam's public decency laws.

Vietnam’s minister of culture, sports and tourism, reportedly said her outfit was “improper, offensive and has caused public outrage.”

He’s gone so far as to order an investigation into whether she had, indeed, breached the law.

Social media in Vietnam went into overdrive over the outfit, with many calling it "sexually explicit", "gross" and "weird".

Trinh remains unapologetic, saying she can’t “satisfy the whole world.”

“I don't care if people criticise it because I felt pretty in the dress, which made a good impression on the Cannes red carpet," she reportedly said.
