Woman With Skin Cancer Posts Graphic Selfie To Warn Against Tanning

Most girls love the look of a gorgeous, bronzed glow.

Tawny Willoughby was one of those girls, until she was diagnosed with skin cancer when she was just 21.

The 27-year-old has now been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma five times, as well as squamouse cell carcinoma once. Her life consists of six-monthly trips to the dermatologist, with a skin cancer removed almost every visit.

The registered nurse shared that she has received multiple treatments for her many cancers, a cream called Aldara being the cause for the scabbing in her photo.

Willoughby's love affair with tanning beds started when she was in high school. She would visit 4-5 times a week. Now, as a mother of a two-year-old, her message is a simple one.

“Don’t let tanning prevent you from seeing your children grow up. That’s my biggest fear now that I have a two year old little boy of my own.”
