You Will Not Believe What The Hollywood Sign Now Says!

Los Angeles residents thought they were seeing things when they awoke on New Year's Day to find the Hollwood Sign now read “Hollyweed”.

Vandals pulled off the almighty prank, which is believed to have been carried out to mark the electoral success of Proposition 64, which saw marijuana legalised in the state.

Well my friends... Happy New Year! This year definitely started on a humorous note. #hollyweed #newyear #2017

Police revealed the prankster used giant tarps to turn the signs two white Os into Es. Security cameras captured the moment the vandal, dressed in all black, defaced the iconic sign. Police said the perpetrator could face a misdemeanor trespassing charge.

It's not the first time the sign has been altered. in 1923 the sign originally said "Hollywoodland", to advertise a new housing development. Surprisingly, it's also not the first time the signs has said "Hollyweed." In 1976 another prankster changed it to "Hollyweed" after laws surrounding marijuana use were relaxed.
