96% OF CANBERRANS PARANOID ABOUT CREDIT CARD THEFT ONLINE

by Katrina Slavich

It seems Canberrans are pretty worried about buying stuff online using credit cards.

According to the 2016 Sensis eBusiness Report, 96% of us are worried about hackers misusing private information and credit card details, compared to 85% nationally.

It's as the ACT is going against the national trend for online shopping, with the overall proportion of those who ordered things online down five points.

We're also the least likely to have ordered cosmetics online (9% vs 16%) or to have used Airbnb (5% vs 15%).

Nationally, it looks like men continue to spend more than women online.

Men mostly buy things like take-away food and video games, while women spend more on fashion and cosmetics.
