Kathie and Adam had been planning to get married for some time.
But their plans were thrown into chaos when they found out their little girl Annabelle had an aggressive brain tumour.
Now, with the help of the community and family, Annabelle’s parents have finally tied the knot!
And most importantly, Annabelle was there to be part of it.
“We had planned to elope in June this year to Port Douglas with the kids, but when we found out Annabelle was unwell my sisters jumped in and planned it for us. It was so important to do it as a family,” Kathie said.
“We had wanted to wait until our family was complete before getting married as we wanted both of our children there.”
Annabelle was the flower girl and her little brother William was the page boy – just one of the many highlights from the unforgettable day.
“Seeing Annabelle dance with her cousin Amelia to 'can you feel the love tonight' was beautiful and William wandering around enjoying cake. Annabelle even caught the wedding bouquet with the help of her Aunty Lou,” Kathie said.
“Adam loved the ceremony and reading our vows which we both wrote and spoke about the importance of our little family and being there for each other through the tough times.”
And it has been tough times for the family. Medical appointments, weeks away in Sydney for radiation, scans, the list goes on.
Kathie said Annabelle’s been tired, but happy.
“She has had some symptom free days, but she is limping most days and sometimes having problems swallowing at times which is extremely scary. It is pretty exciting that she can run again and she loves catching up with her BFF Rachel.”
The family’s been in contact with a team in the UK about a clinical trial taking place in Sydney.
But they’ll await the results of Annabelle’s next MRI before making any big decisions.
While they sort all that out, the family has been making the most of Annabelle’s Princess Playground, which dozens of locals chipped in to build.

“She loves painting in it, doing her activity books, reading and dressing up. I love it as it keeps her moving around and out in the fresh air,” Kathie said.
“Every morning she asks if she can go play in her castle as soon as she gets up. William loves it too as he can get in to everything and they can just play, make a mess and be kids.”
Today, the family jetted off to the Gold Coast for the honeymoon.
A well-deserved holiday.
“A visit to SeaWorld is planned, depending on the kids, but mostly we just want some R&R and quality family time playing at the beach and by the pool.”
Kathie said they couldn’t be more grateful to those who donated their time and resources to make their wedding happen.
“Thank you so much to the community for their love and support. Especially my family - Mum, brothers and sisters, Aunties, Uncles, cousins and friends. We are feeling so much love and it helps us to stay strong.”
