There’s nothing quite as moving and special as attending an ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
The day we remember all Australians who served and died in war and in operational service.
Tuesday April 25 marks the 102nd anniversary of the landing of Anzac troops at Gallipoli.
ANZAC Day commemorations get underway at the Australian War Memorial on Sunday April 23, with images of Australian serviceman and servicewomen projected onto the Memorial building.
The projections will run again on April 24 until the start of the Dawn Service, which is on from 5:30am-6am on April 25.
Prior to that, excerpts from the letters and diaries of Australians who experienced war firsthand will be read aloud by a representative from each of the armed forces.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commemorative Ceremony will be held after the Dawn Service at the Aboriginal Memorial plaque on the side of Mount Ainslie.
The National Ceremony runs from 10:30am – 12pm with the Commemorative Address, wreath laying, hymns, the sounding of the Last Post, observance of one minute’s silence, the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand and the veterans’ march.
Tickets for the National Ceremony can be booked online or by calling 6243 4327.
The Last Post Ceremony will commence at 4:45pm in the Commemorative Area with everyone welcome to attend.
There’s expected to be more people at this ceremony than usual, so extra viewing screens will be set up outside the Memorial entrance.
