Most of us have heard of those eating contests where hungry participants eat a gigantic steak or burger to get their names on a champion board.

Well another eating competition is coming to Canberra, and this one’s for a good cause!

Chicken parmigianas are a mouth-watering invention that have become quite the sought-after meal at local pubs and clubs.

The George Harcourt has taken advantage of that, by challenging hungry Canberrans to a parmi eating contest to help raise money for Raize the Roof – a charity that helps kids a little less lucky.

It’s part of the Sing for Your Supper Festival at the George Harcourt on November 18.

It’s expected to be a massive day with entertainment by live bands, charity auctions and raffles, kid’s activities like face painting and jumping castles, as well as Beer and Wine expo tents with over 50 craft brew taps and some of Australia’s best wines for punters to try!

Around 20 local non-professional musicians will perform throughout the day with a prize to be awarded at the end of the night to the best performer.

Over 600 people attended last year, with organisers hoping to raise $10,000 for Raize the Roof at this year’s event.

People wanting to enter the parmi eating contest can contact the George Harcourt directly on (02) 6230 2484.

Organisers hope to have 10 people enter on the day with a $100 buy in to compete.

The winner will take away $300 with the rest to be donated to Raize the Roof.

So prepare those tummies Canberra and happy parmi eating!
