You wouldn’t know it’s nearly summer in Canberra today..

The territory’s received nearly half of its November average rainfall this morning, with more than 30mm falling before lunchtime.

And we’re expecting a top of just 16 degrees!

According to Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke, conditions are likely to ease before bedtime.

“The rain is likely to clear, at least ease significantly, by early evening, even later afternoon.”

For those worrying about how the wet weather will affect tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup celebrations – breathe easy.

Melbourne Cup day is expected to be rain-free in the capital.

“It looks like a generally sunny day. Cloud might increase later in the day but it’s not likely to bring any showers until at least late afternoon, but even those chances are pretty small,” Mr Dutschke said.

As of 11:30am on Monday, the ESA had only received a handful of calls for help.

Meanwhile, the wild weather’s also brought more of the white stuff to our ski fields..
