Two Canberra landmarks have made their way onto the new Australian Monopoly board!
It’s after fans of the board game were asked to vote for the best Aussie locations and attractions.
35,768 votes were cast for 40 shortlisted landmarks, with Questacon and the Australian War Memorial making the final 22.
Canberra itself also made the cut!
Questacon Deputy Director Kate Driver said “it was an honour to pass GO on the much-loved board game.”
“Generations of families have learned and bonded over hotly contested rounds of Monopoly over the years and board games are a great way to introduce science, technology, engineering and maths concepts.”
War Memorial staff are also stoked to have their iconic building feature on the popular board game.
“Monopoly is a household name. The Australian War Memorial is an iconic institution in itself, one with a serious and dedicated purpose. It is pleasing that there is clear recognition of the significance of the Memorial, and that it has been chosen to feature on the new Monopoly Australia board,” Memorial Director Dr Brendan Nelson said.
