A Canberra couple stuck in Thailand after a horrific accident have finally been given some good news.
It’s after a motorbike crash saw Shani end up in hospital with bleeding on the brain, a broken pelvis, a broken nose and severe lacerations to her face, mouth and body.

Shani and her partner Sam have been faced with large and increasing medical bills, all while being away from Shani’s two young boys at home.
Sam’s construction union, the CFMEU, agreed to help the pair out financially while Shani’s still in hospital, which has been a huge relief!
That, combined with the $60,604 raised on the GoFundMe page, will be enough to get Sam and Shani home, as well as cover incurred costs, rehabilitation and any further medical expenses.
It’s understood, Sam and Shani will donate any leftover GoFundMe money to a worthy cause, or use it to help other people in similar situations.

“We will never be able to thank everyone enough for what you have done for us and the support that has been shown,” the pair said.
“It is only because of you all, that we have had the strength to get through this nightmare situation.”
At this stage, Shani will no longer need a medivac flight home, and they’re waiting for clearance to be able to fly commercially.
We wish them all the best for a speedy recovery and safe trip home!
