Cheap Canberra flights to Melbourne return

They are back! Low cost flights between Canberra and Melbourne will be re-established after budget airline TigerAir confirmed they would resume services between the two cities.

Chief Minister Andrew Barr pushed the agenda earlier this month, speaking about the benefits the flights would have for both cities, at the moment there are few details on the cost of a ticket, however the good news is that they are expected to go on sale this week.

"We heard the message from the community they wanted international flights and a low cost carrier and both have been delivered," Barr said.

"A bit of competitive tension in the marketplace as well, I would anticipate there would be a response from other low-cost carriers."

Barr in his press conference also stated that there is now a possibility to have low-cost flights extended beyond Melbourne to include Brisbane and Adelaide.

The announcement comes as International flights are set to get underway next month.
