Cancer crusader Connie Johnson will be remembered at a ‘village service’ in Melbourne next week.

It’s after she lost her long battle with cancer on Friday, just a day after being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia.

Her brother, Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson, made the announcement on the Love Your Sister Facebook page.

The post has already attracted dozens of responses from people planning to attend the service on September 23.

“Will be there with bells on! I’m seriously going to bring bells, and ring them loud so that everyone will be able to hear the village and feel the love!” – Kerrie

“Think you’re gonna need some more cathedrals.. I know so many people will attend and those who can’t will be there in spirit.” – Shannon

“Sam, thank you for making it on a Saturday where so many of us can come and pay our respects.. sending love.” – Katherine

“I will be there to say goodbye to your (our) dear Connie Cottonsocks.. what a woman eh? Much love.” – Alison

“What a beautiful church to say goodbye to a legend Connie who will always be in my heart, she was a true warrior, I loved her pride.” – Marylouise

“A beautiful place to celebrate the life and times of Connie and the shared achievements of #loveyoursister and #BigHeartProject. On that day it will be #nowisawesome for giving Connie the best send off ever. I may not get there, will see what an airfare is worth and donate those dollars.” – Chris

The service is expected to be a joyful celebration with lots of colour – just how Connie would’ve liked it.

The service will also be live streamed, for those who can’t attend.
