Police are on the lookout for a sling shot culprit who allegedly targeted cars and a school bus in Queanbeyan on Monday night.

Around 7:15pm, a driver reported a boy aged 13-15, who was wearing a yellow singlet, used a sling shot to fire a rock at a moving car near the intersection of Canberra Avenue into Lanyon Drive at Queanbeyan.

A short time later, a bus carrying 41 students and three teachers on an excursion was at the same intersection, when one of its back windows was shattered by an unknown object.

A 12-year-old student was taken to Canberra Hospital with suspected glass in her eye.

Luckily, she wasn’t badly injured.

Students described the offender as a boy aged around 16 with long curly hair wearing a black camouflage hat, camouflage top and blue or tan pants.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Queanbeyan Police Station on 6298 0555.
