Raiders fans are passionate and they love the game, but no one bleeds green more than Tony Wood, aka, Victor the Viking.

Tony was recognised for his efforts and love of the Raiders at the club’s annual awards last night, where he picked up a special Life Member award.

MIX 106.3 Breakfast co-host Kristen Henry said it was the nicest moment of the night, which saw the AIS Arena erupt in applause.

Kristen & Wilko caught up with Tony this morning..

“This is not a job, it’s a passion of mine,” he told Kristen & Wilko.

Then things started to get a bit emotional..

“Last night I forgot to mention the most important people in my life. That’s my family, my children who look forward to the football every week. It’s part of their life as well as mine,” he said through tears.

“This award is not only mine, but it’s yours and for everyone who wears green.”

Good on you Victor! You deserve it!

It was also a big night for Raiders prop Junior Paulo, who took out the 2017 Meninga Medal with 23 votes, edging out team mates Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton.

Paulo was a strong and consistent performer, playing in 23 games during the season, racking up votes in 10 of them.

In other awards, Nick Cotric took out NRL Rookie of the Year, Jeff Lima was named Clubman of the Year and Elliot Whitehead was awarded the NRL Coaches award.

NYC star Emre Guler was named the clubs Junior Representative Player of the Year and try scoring machine Mikaele Ravalawa took out the NYC Player of the Year award.

While, Jarred Tuite was the NYC Coaches award winner and Harry Van Dartel won the Career and Education award.

Well done boys!
