State of Origin is nearly here, with much of the talk around who’s in and who’s out, injuries and rivalries.

But have you ever wondered – how much do the players actually earn?

The NRL Footy Show’s Beau Ryan chatted to Kristen and Rod this morning, in the lead up to Origin 1 next week.

One juicy tid bit of information he revealed on the radio this morning, was that players earn $30,000 per game to play State of Origin.

“Back in the day, when players were 50/50 with injuries, they’d rest, but now they do anything to get out there and earn that money,” he said.

So close to 100 grand for three games, possibly more for some players.

What do you think of that $30,000 per game figure? Too much or not enough? Over the top or fair? Have your say at our Facebook page!

The 2017 State of Origin series kicks off on Wednesday May 31, 8pm, at Suncorp Stadium.
