Rescue crews have had a busy morning out at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, after a hiker was stranded there overnight.

A woman suffered a suspected broken ankle but it was too foggy for the rescue chopper to get access.

It’s understood, she’d tried to take a short route back to the Mountain Creek carpark after taking a tumble on Monday afternoon, but had to stop due to being in too much pain.

Police got to her about 45 minutes after receiving the call.

They stayed with her overnight till the Southcare chopper was able to try again this morning, but it was too steep at her location.

She’s since been moved to where crews were able to airlift her, and has been taken to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.

We are glad to hear she’s safe!
