KRISTEN & ROD’S FAVE PART OF THE CANBERRA SHOW
The ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show is just around the corner.. and that means showbags, dagwood dogs, rides, animals – the list goes on!
Kristen & Rod share their thoughts on what they think is the BEST part of the show..
ROD - Remember when the best part of The Canberra Show were the show bags? I hate to admit it, but I think I’ve become a grown up.
Don’t get me wrong, this is no slight on the Show Bag. But the Show Bags have moved down my order of priorities to third place, behind the dogs.
I’m not talking about the ‘Best In Show’ type dogs either, I mean the chasing, rounding & simply amazing working dogs.
Once the bastion of the most refined & well trained hound, the Canberra Show now welcomes the Aussiest of all dogs. The Blue Healers, Red Healers, Kelpies & Collies that perform truly mind blowing feats. I’m the furthest thing from an expert, but if you’ve ever tried to wrangle any sort of livestock with nothing but a pair of gumboots & flailing arms…you’ll know that the Australian working dog is worth its weight in gold.
But in my eyes the dogs still play second fiddle to the Wood Chop! Growing up in Australia, part of every Saturday was watching the ‘Wood Chop’ on Wide World Of Sports. Why the ultimate display of strength, speed and precision isn’t on TV anymore I’ll never know. But as long as these amazing axemen are at The Show, the nostalgic fix that Show Bags once gave me will live on.
KRISTEN - The Royal Canberra Show is always a treat. You need enough pocket money for some fairy floss and a ride on the dodgem cars and a show bag. The show bags were always the cherry on the top of a fantastic day as a little girl, and remain my favourite part of the show.
The Karate Ninja Deluxe bag will get my money this year. I won’t get much change back from $30.. but boy you won’t want to meet me in a dark alley. I am equipped to take on the world with this one!
Warning, don’t irritate me in any meetings post purchase of this show bag. If I need to teach you a lesson I will be heavily disguised with my Ninja mask and hood. There is a ninja vest for protection too. My Ninja weapon set will allow me to be fully stocked; it includes two swords, two ninja knives and thank goodness, a weapon holder. Finally, Ninja discs too! I’m not 100% sure what I do with these so called Ninja discs.. but I will find a purpose and watch out when I do.
If this Ninja has any left over pocket money she will try to squeeze in the killer python show bag too, but the first stop is the Karate Ninja bag stand.
