Kyrgios faces tough test first up at Wimbledon

by Brent Ford

Nick Kyrgios kicks off his Wimbledon campaign tonight against Czech Radek Stepanek which shapes as an interesting encounter between the two 'bad boys'.

Kyrgios will be high on confidence heading into the match, after Novak Djokovic said the Canberran was one of the players who could possibly upset the big three in the tournament. But Djokovic looked ominous as he claimed a straight sets victory of Britain's James Ward last night.

Seven Aussies will be in action tonight, with Sam Stosur already through to the second round with her impressive win last night. While Kyrgios will be high on confidence he can't underestimate his mate Stepanek who is a competitive veteran who has plans to derail his young protege.

Stepanek is the only player to win consecutive live deciding singles rubbers in Davis Cup finals in 2012 and 2013, and he challenged Andy Murray during their French Open contest last month.

But if Kyrgios can get past the niggle tonight, he could be well on his way to challenging at this tournament.
