From next week, you’ll hear a new voice on Kristen & Wilko’s breakfast show..

Experienced journalist David Sharaz is coming on board as the new MIX 106.3 Breakfast newsreader!

He’s certainly no stranger to the job, having started his career in breakfast radio, before moving into TV reporting at WIN News Canberra.

David climbed up the ranks before he was approached by SBS to work in the Press Gallery at Parliament House.

He’s also honed his skills at 2UE and Sky News – and has even been the Sunrise Cash Cow!

So why did he want to join the MIX Breakfast team?

“I’m looking forward to going to work each day and doing something different. In radio, no one day is ever the same and that’s the most exciting thing about the job,” David said.

“When news breaks, I’ll be on it informing the listeners. But when it’s not so serious, don’t be surprised if I’m talking about cats or the many other things close to my heart.”

After meeting Kristen and Wilko – David knew it was a perfect fit.

“Kristen has a passion for local news and telling people’s stories and Wilko is a seriously delightful human – we just clicked the moment we met,” he said.

“He also laughed at my jokes at our first dinner, and that’s something I never get at home!”

While David reckons Canberra does have too many roundabouts, it’s a place he and his fiancée Alex (and their 3 cats) now call home.

Speaking of cats.. one of David’s much-loved fur babies, Robinson, has more than 10,000 followers on Instagram! Yes – it’s true.

I am on my way to a very important job interview! Lucky I look so dashing and handsome.

Apart from being a cat lover and total news junkie, David is also a self-confessed nerd.

“My idea of a good night is sitting on the couch watching ABC News 24 followed up with a good Hugh Grant flick,” he said.

“I love Michael Buble and Taylor Swift so much that I went to both of their concerts with my parents because my fiancée refused to join me!”

David couldn’t be more excited to bring Canberrans their daily news, with plenty of cat chat thrown in!

“I can’t wait to get on the air and inform Canberra on their way to work. It’s a big honour because I  know how sacred that morning drive is, and I’m grateful and humbled by those Canberrans who decide to spend a few minutes with me as I update them as they start their day,” he said.

David joins the MIX Breakfast team this coming Monday, July 24!
