Queanbeyan legend and former Formula One driver Mark Webber will retire from professional racing at the end of the world endurance season in Bahrain next month.
Webber finished his career in Formula One in 2013, joining Porsche to compete in the World Endurance Championship, helping to lead them to a win in 2015.
He'll finish up racing for Porsche at the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours event in Bahrain on November 19.
"I will miss the sheer speed, downforce and competition, but I want to leave on a high and I'm very much looking forward to my new tasks," Webber said.
Recently Canberra's Go-Kart Track was named in Webber's honour. The 40-year-old will become a Porsche 'special representative' at global events and work as a consultant on motor sport programs.
