A privacy zone around a health facility at Moore Street in Civic has been extended to better protect women accessing legal pregnancy termination services at the clinic.

From today, it now includes any areas accessible by the public in 1 Moore Street, surrounding blocks and sections, and roads in the zone.

The protest-free zone was introduced in March, but ACT Minister for Health Simon Corbell said they'd seen a number of protests in the area since then.

"That's why the Government is making some adjustments to the zone today, to prevent any inadvertent contact between women who are accessing legal pregnancy termination services, and protestors," he said.

"The privacy zone is there to make sure women who are accessing legal pregnancy termination services can do so in relative privacy, and without having to face condemnation or intimidation from protestors who disagree with legal abortion services."

The extended zone will now include Rudd Street, West Row, and the alley way of Odgers Lane , as well as surrounding roads and footpaths.
