For the first time in 22 years, no Raiders have been named in Australia’s 24-man squad for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.

Raiders star Josh Papalii was our only local hope, but even he was snubbed, with coach Mal Meninga instead choosing Storm rookie, Felise Kaufusi.

Meninga promoted several premiership-winners, with Kaufusi one of 7 Storm players included in the squad.

In other shock omissions, Roosters fullback James Tedesco was left out, as was winger Blake Ferguson.

The full squad includes Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Will Chambers, Dane Gagai, Tom Trbojevic, Josh Dugan, Valentime Holmes, Cooper Cronk, Cameron Munster, Michael Morgan, James Maloney, Aaron Woods, David Klemmer, Josh McGuire, Andrew Fifita, Jake Trbojevic, Jordan McLean, Boyd Cordner, Matt Gillett, Tyson Frizell, Wade Graham, Felise Kaufusi, Cameron Smith and Ben Hunt.

The Kangaroos’ opening clash against England kicks off at AAMI Park on October 27, with Australia’s other World Cup pool matches against France in Canberra on November 3 and Lebanon in Sydney on November 11.
