TWO DEAD AFTER HUME HIGHWAY CRASH
A woman and a boy have died while another woman and a girl are fighting for life after a horror head-on crash on the Hume Highway near Sydney.
The two-car collision happened at Pheasants Nest just before 8am today.
A 49-year-old woman driving a Mazda 4WD died at the scene, while her two passengers, a boy and girl both aged seven, had to be freed from the car by emergency workers.
The driver of the second car, also a 49-year-old woman, was also trapped for some time.
The boy and the woman were both rushed to hospital but the boy died several hours later.
The seven-year-old remain in a critical condition.
Police are investigating.
