UP TO 100 STALLS TO BE CUT FROM MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL
Up to 100 stalls will be cut from next year’s Multicultural festival, to avoid overcrowding issues.
The ACT Government said too many stall holders were allowed to take part this year, which led to crowd congestion.
In 2018, organisers are aiming to allow one stall per vendor at the festival, which runs from February 16-18.
“We want to ensure we get as many organisations participating in the festival. At least one per vendor will see more participation. Stallholders that would like more than one, we’ll look at that, once we’ve allocated one per organisation that applies,” festival Director Azra Khan said.
“We’re mindful of the need to ensure that people can move around comfortably and ensure we don’t overcrowd certain areas.”
This year, nearly 300,000 people attended the event over the 3 days.
