What's Really In Your Doritos? Prepare to be shocked...
How many ingredients do you think are in your favourite packet of dorito chips? 4? 5? Try 34.
From flavourings to colouring, sweeteners and preservatives, the amount of additives in this snack food favourite is shocking.
Concerned with the lack of knowledge by consumers, photographers Dwight Eschliman and Steve Ettlinger created a visual exploration in a new book called Ingredients.
In doing so, the pair exposed 75 common food additives and provided an easy-to-read encyclopaedia of their uses and history.
The below image highlights the ingredients, flavourings, colourings and preservatives that go into Doritos Cool Ranch flavoured corn chips.
ROW 1: Corn, corn oil, canola oil and/or sunflower oil, maltodextrin, salt
ROW 2: Tomato powder, cornstarch, lactose, whey, skim milk, corn syrup solids
ROW 3: Onion powder, sugar, garlic powder, monosodium glutamate, milk, cheese cultures
