Target Is Offering Something AMAZING For Kids With Autism
Target stores in the USA have brought in quiet shopping hours for parents with children on the autism spectrum. From December 10 stores will open from 6am to 8am before regular shopping hours, with decreased sensory distractions.
Lights will be dimmed, music switched off, and there'll also be a reduced amount of staff working throughout the store in order to provide people on the autism spectrum a sensory stimulant free environment, which can otherwise be frustrating or scary for them.
Target is well on the way to helping make life easier for people with disabilities. During last year they added special carts for parents of disabled children to use, and they have also featured people with disabilities in their advertising.
Here's hoping this is a trend that makes it's way over to Australia soon, and spreads to many other stores too. Well done, Target!
