An Aussie School Has Made A HUGE Change!
A leading Sydney girls school has made the decision to eliminate gender-specific terms from its teacher's vocabularies has prompted for sackings and government intervention.
Teachers at the north-west Sydney school have been asked to stop referring to students as 'girls'', ''ladies'' and ''women'' and use only gender-neutral language.
The request was put to teachers at a staff meeting earlier this year when they were discussing the implementation of the Safe Schools anti-bullying programme.
It was suggested that by using gender-specific terminology they could be breaking the law and could be sued by LGBTI students.
Media commentators are saying that the school has overstepped the mark but NSW education minister Adrian Piccoli said ''I don’t think there’s anything improper about that.''
