There are fears much more are dead as families on the upper floors were trapped by the raging fire, forcing some to leap out of windows.
The blaze took over the 24-storey Grenfell Tower near White City, just before 1 am Wednesday (local time).
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with one witness saying it may have been started by his neighbours exploding fridge on the fourth floor.
