Some of us have LOVED 2016, while others can’t wait to see it end.

Whichever it may be, there’s all sorts of ways to celebrate the New Year in Canberra this weekend!

The big event is, of course, New Year’s Eve in the City!

There’ll be a fantastic line-up of free entertainment, including live music and state of the art fireworks.

The Family Civic Square Concert kicks off at 7pm with performances by the Potbelleez, the Brass Knuckle Band, Nostalgia and Heuristic, followed by the midnight fireworks.

There’ll also be family friendly fireworks at 9pm, to be launched from City Hill.

So make sure you get to your viewing spot early to score a good possie!

Over in Garema Square, the Bass in the Place all-ages dance party runs from 9pm till 1am with awesome dance, hip hop and electro tunes.

Both gigs are no cost, alcohol and glass-free events.

If you’re looking for something a bit more glamorous, check out Casino Canberra’s New Year’s Eve experiences for a night of luxury!

And if you’d like to step into the New Year red carpet style, head to the National Arboretum for their ‘Diamonds are Forever’ party.

QT Canberra is also putting on a special event, where you’ll get to party all night and watch the fireworks from a top notch venue.

If a glass of bubbly and some delicious food is more up your alley, the Canberra Wine House is hosting a party where you can indulge in wine, cheese and sweet treats, while watching the Sydney fireworks on the big screen!

Southern Cross Cruises are also a great way to ring in 2017 with family or that special someone!

Stacks of other local venues are also putting on celebrations, including Pod Food, Hotel Kurrajong, Pilot Bar, Benchmark Wine Bar, Redsalt Restaurant, The Hellenic Club, Banana Leaf, Teatro Vivaldi Restaurant, The Southern Cross Club Yacht Club, the Hyatt Hotel, Onred restaurant and Palace Cinemas.

Let’s smash this one out Canberra, and make this the best New Year’s Eve celebration the nation’s capital’s ever seen!
