Tragedy As 11-YO Dies Just Minutes After Being Sent To Room

An 11-year-old boy who died in a tragic accident just minutes after being sent to his room has been described as a "star pupil".

Leon Carlisle was found unconscious by his parents following an argument at the dinner table; although the exact circumstances aren't known, his father said the boy had "loved life" and that the whole thing had just been a terrible accident.

"It feels like I've woken up to a nightmare," a devastated John McNaughton said. "Leon was sent to his room for arguing with his parents over dinner like any other child does.

"This was an 11-year-old child having a tantrum over his dinner trying to win an argument with his parents and not understanding the consequences of his actions.

"He wasn't depressed, he loved life and wasn't being bullied, he had loads of friends and loved getting out to play.

"What he did was an accident and happened in the space of five minutes."

The boy's mum, Lisa Carlisle, added: "He loved life so much.

"His death was a terrible accident which we can't go back from."

Facebook has been flooded with tributes to the "popular student" from Belfast, Northern Ireland, whose "loss will be sorely felt throughout the whole school and wider community".

It's reported that police are not treating the tragic youngster's death as suspicious.
