Midnight Oil will be coming to Canberra VERY SOON!

As they release their 15th studio album, Aussie music legends Midnight Oil have also announced their upcoming tour will be their last.

The band, however, made it clear that future one-off gigs “supporting causes in which they believe” would still be on the cards, but this “will be their last tour”.

The dates will coincide with the release of a new album titled Resist, made up of 12 new songs recorded with late bassist Bones Hillman.

Hillman passed away last year, the same week Midnight Oil’s most recent album The Makarrata Project debuted at number one on the ARIA charts.

Guitarist Jim Moginie paid tribute to Hillman, noting that “a lot has happened over the past five years”.

“These will be sad and beautiful gigs but luckily we’re still capable of blowing the roof off any stage, and that’s what we intend to do.”

It’s understood each member of the Oils will continue their own projects going forward.

They also remain open to recording new music together in future.

Midnight Oil’s final Australian tour will kick off on January 25 and will hit Canberra on Tuesday, 19th of April 2022 at Stage 88.
