One of Australia’s cheapest streaming services will increase their prices from next year.

Subscriptions to Disney+ will go up from $8.99 a month ($89 annual) to $11.99 a month (or $119.99 annual) in line with a ridiculous amount of new content being added.

From February 23, 2021, Disney will add more adult-skewing content from the company’s ABC, FX, Freeform, Searchlight, and 20th Century Studios brands.

Deadline reported that it will essentially be a similar service to Hulu, which Disney CEO Bob Chapek said had “no brand awareness” outside of the US.

Disney+ recently passed 86 million subscribers worldwide – and projecting more than 350 million by 2024.

Meanwhile, Netflix recently hiked their subscription prices for Aussie viewers.

The streaming platform jacked up its basic plan from $9.99 to $10.99 while its standard plan went up from $13.99 to $15.99.
