Out with the old and in with the new! This dining destination has given the old Queanbeyan local a modern facelift, plus a new menu full of hearty feeds.

It’s Campbell & George! A trendy and friendly hang out with hints of the old 1934 established club lingering in the old exposed brick walls and original lockers.

And among the fresh atmosphere is Italian Bistro Brick & Basil, providing a list of quality lunch specials that change daily.

From mouth-watering Chicken Cordon Bleu filled with ham and cheese, to a full seafood basket, the daily options are great value, well portioned and have you spoiled for choice.

After a good ten minutes of heated decision making, I decided to try the Salmon Bearnaise topped with perfectly seared scallops, chips and salad, which already had me drooling at the counter.

With creamy, garlic Bearnaise sauce, the whole plate was a delicious, melt in your mouth combination.

And if the daily specials don’t tickle your fancy, the Brick & Basil menu is full of well-priced favourites. You even have the option to customise your pasta and sauce combination!


But we couldn’t go past the fresh woodfired pizzas in an authentic oven just a few metres away.

One of their most popular pizzas was the $19 Vegetarian, which also had a vegan option available. Jam-packed full of fresh toppings on a light and crispy base.

Then followed by the Spicy Lamb pizza with marinated lamb, baby spinach, flavoursome sundried tomato, feta, tomato, parsley, mint, rosemary, subtle chilli flakes and the surprising but amazing addition of honey. My oh my, was this a crowd favourite!

It’s a pity I can’t woof down 5 meals at a time, as there was a long list of dishes I still wanted to try.

Campbell & George provides the lunch special goods, not to mention their regular menu, all with great value for money. They might as well book me in for next week, because my stomach is eagerly waiting to try the rest!
