ACT Health is advising locals who’ve recently visited Batemans Bay to get tested if they’re showing even mild coronavirus symptoms.

The alert comes as NSW Health urges locals from the South Coast to come forward after fragments of COVID-19 were detected at a local sewage treatment plant.

It’s important to note that the positive detection can be due to shedding of the virus by someone who has previously recovered from COVID-19 and is no longer infectious.

Viral ‘shedding’ can occur for up to six to eight weeks after a person is deemed clear.

There are currently no active cases of COVID-19 in the ACT.
