Kristen and Nige went back in time to 1974 and in their research they wanted to know how much things were priced.

They were shocked.

Loaf of bread was 24c, litre of milk was 30c, newspaper was 12c and a litre of petrol for 57c! But the most fascinating price was how much housing was worth back then.

Kristen and Nige asked Canberra – what did you buy your house for in the 1970s?

Some of the amounts will have you picking you mouth up off the floor.
