As more of us sweat it up while working out inside the home, new research has found we are increasingly putting our bodies, homes and possessions on the line.

The study from insurance company AAMI has found 44% of those getting physical at home have injured themselves or damaged property.

Windows, walls and floors were the most likely to cop it.

Craig White from AAMI said moving potential trip hazards and keeping water away from electricals can help you go the extra mile in avoiding injury and damage.

“It seems we’ve been slipping, tripping, smashing and crashing our way through the pandemic, but no one wins gold by being unprepared.” Mr White said.

“Breaking the lockdown blues and international events like the Olympics can provide the inspiration to get up and get active, but just like false starts, accidents can happen in our everyday arena.”

The ACT claimed Bronze, coming in third place on the list of state and territories most prone to mishaps after South Australia and Tasmania.
