A number of staff and residents at the Calvary Haydon Retirement Village in Bruce have now tested positive to COVID-19.
A case in a staff member was first detected yesterday with another member of staff also testing positive, both are included in the 19 cases of the virus reported in the ACT on Friday.
However, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said ‘several’ other staff and residents had tested positive overnight, after the 8pm cutoff, and will be included in Saturday’s official figures.
“These (cases) are currently under investigation and i’ll be able to talk more about those exact numbers tomorrow.”
It comes as health officials also identified an increase in the number of cases in the Watson area in the past two weeks.
Some of the new cases in the northside suburb are still yet to have their original source identified.
As a precaution, ACT Health will establish pop-up testing within the suburb on Saturday for those concerned they may have been exposed and those with symptoms who haven’t been able to get tested.
