Canberra is well known for being the Nation’s Capital City but now it seems we’re also Australia’s Cycling Capital.

A recent report by cycling advocacy group ‘People for Bikes’ found Canberra to be Australia’s most bike friendly city.

The global study looked a city’s perceptions on cycling and the quality of its bike network to give it a score out of 100.

Canberra rated a score of 57 out of 100, the highest rating of any major city in Australia.

In second place was Alice Springs, followed by Melbourne then Sydney.

The nearby Eurobodalla region of the South Coast rounded out the top five.

Globally, Canberra came in at 37th position.

Utrecht in the Netherlands claimed number one spot worldwide with a rating of 83 out of 100.
