A Canberra man is facing drug importation charges after police intercepted a package containing cocaine that was allegedly bound for his Gordon home.
The package was picked up by Border Force officers in Sydney after arriving from Nigeria, where testing confirmed approximately one kilogram of cocaine concealed inside.
Police removed the drug and placed it with a fake substance before the package was then forwarded to the Gordon address.
A search of the home on Wednesday led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man.
He’s been charged with attempting to possess a marketable quantity of a controlled drug and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
Anyone with information about the manufacture, sale or distribution of illicit drugs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
